The Australian singer-songwriter whom I made drop a "t" from his name in 2007 is passing me on Google. Can't have that, so I have to actually modify something on my website, if only for SEO purposes. So, here's something.
Tonight, my daughter had her grade school Spring Concert. I see my daughter be cute a lot, so there's nothing particularly special about seeing her be cute with 60 other kids up on stage risers. And, at the risk of sounding like a grumpy old curmudgeon, it's really no fun to have to sit for 40 minutes and listen to 7-to-9-year-olds sing.
The only part I semi-enjoyed was when they did "Do-Re-Mi" from The Sound of Music. First, it's a better song than the drivel the music teacher picks (year in and year out, may I add, as it's the sixth year we've seen such a performance). Second, I had the fun of trying to remember the old Mad Magazine parody lyrics. I couldn't entirely remember, but thank the maker for Google, I did find it on someone's blog. I do my bit here to preserve it for posterity
The $ound of Money
(A Mad Magazine parody of The Sound of Music)
Dough! Means cash... for all of us!
'Ray! For musicals like this!
Me! A star, so big that by
Far! It really couldn't miss!
So, Insipid is the plot,
La-dee-dah, although we know
Te-dious it is, a lot
Which will bring us back much dough... dough... dough... dough...
Classic.
